Step back in time to the Romantic age of Geoffrey Chaucer at the Third annual Acadiana Medieval Faire. The Acadiana Medieval faire is a recreation of the traveling Royal encampment of Edward III on pilgrimage to Canterbury. These traveling Royal Households often had huge numbers of attendants. Minstrels, musicians, and storytellers would join the procession to entertain the King and Queen and their retinue. Sutlers would also be present to supply goods and services to the many travelers in the party. Historically pilgrimages were made in the spring. On your visit to the Acadiana Medieval Faire your will encounter lively characters from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales on their journey to the shrine of St. Thomas a Becket in Canterbury. Delight in their tales as you shop in a unique medieval-style market place, listen to authentic early music, watch a show from the Middle Ages, or delight in the spicy food that is the trade mark of Cajun Country.
